Permanent employee, Full-time · Munich

The Role

Personio is the all-in-one HR solution for small and medium-sized enterprises. With offices in Munich, Madrid, London, Dublin, Amsterdam, Barcelona and Berlin, Personio is on a mission to make people processes as transparent and efficient as possible, so HR can focus on what matters most - people and strategy.

Our Product Platform domain is fulfilling this purpose by building out the platform strategy for Personio’s product. We are a rapidly growing, enablement-focused domain that strives to create secure, reusable, and extensible systems that accelerate the ability of our internal teams to create customer value, at scale.

Furthermore, Product Platform plays a pivotal role in delivering the tooling, components, templates and standards that establish the foundations of a common Personio design platform; ultimately providing our customers with a consistent, accessible and delightful experience.

To support our mission, we are looking for a Lead UI Designer that is passionate about designing modern, engaging and intuitive user interfaces and has experience of leading the exploration and definition of a product's global visual identity.

As a successful candidate you will help drive a centralised effort to define and evolve Personio’s user interface; leveraging your ability to identify and apply cutting edge visual trends and interaction paradigms. You’ll partner with design, product, engineering and marketing to create a compelling, consumer-grade look and feel for the next generation of our Personio platform.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • You’ll help define and drive overarching design decisions that inform the overall look and feel of the Personio product; advocating for commonality, consistency and design quality.

  • Provide standards and best practices (across domain and department) for best-in-class UI and Visual Design; actively leading a wider community of designers to drive quality and craft.

  • Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional peers to define, validate and iterate on Personio’s evolving visual language.

  • Managing stakeholder relationships to provide alignment, present explorations and defend design solutions.

  • Be an arbitrator for high-level design decisions, using insights, best practice and industry trends to help others arrive at pragmatic, well-reasoned decisions.

  • Leading the translation of customer insights into designed experiences and forming a compelling story around it.

  • Work with a wider program team of designers, engineers and product managers to enable wider UI/UX goals and monitor the impact of global design decisions.

  • Use various mediums/levels of fidelity to explore design concepts and prototype interactions for validation and stakeholder review.

  • Work with other designers and writers to translate design decisions into guidance that is intuitive, accessible and up to date.

  • Be a leading voice in the ongoing development and adoption of our design system (Highlight UI), as the manifestation of our design decisions.

What you need to succeed
  • You have a strong background in UI and Visual Design, with a portfolio that demonstrates creativity, an eye for detail, and your strive for pixel perfection.

  • Be a practice expert in UI and Visual Design design with a comprehensive knowledge of layout, composition, hierarchy, page flow and the use of various UI components.

  • You’ll have a keen eye for craft that can zero in on the details of typography, color, grid and motion, but also take the 1000 foot view for comprehension, cohesion and consistency.

  • Follow a systematic approach to building out a common visual language, ideally having led and contribute to the development of a number of design systems.

  • Have extensive knowledge around design tools, in particular Figma.

  • Ability to work in an Agile, highly-collaborative organisation, balancing creativity with execution.

  • As well as excellence in visual craft, you should have a good understanding of the whole design process, inclusive of Product Design, UX Research and UX Writing.

  • Have a great understanding of current design trends, as applied to SaaS products.

  • You are well versed in motion design, including transitions and micro-interactions.

  • You seek regular feedback for continuous improvement (growth mindset).

  • You have great communication skills and are fluent in written/spoken English.
