The Role
We are looking for an experienced technical manager to lead and grow our compute and storage infrastructure teams. This candidate will have deep experience in AWS or similar cloud technologies, and will have already been on a journey of cloud adoption, normalisation, and acceleration.  This leader will be able to leverage his or her experience but also grow themselves into new and emerging areas. For example - exposing managed infrastructure to enabling end users to build software components and workflows directly upon our infrastructure platform.

In line with the company growth of approximately 2x per year, our infrastructure teams will grow to cover different aspects of cloud infrastructure management including compliance, financial planning, capacity planning, developer infrastructure provisioning, observability, and all operational aspects of scalability, reliability, monitoring and incident management tooling. The role will include the design and execution of operational support for the infrastructure platform to ensure availability and adherence to availability SLAs. 

What you need to succeed
This role is suitable for someone who is passionate about growing Personio to be a world-leading user of cloud technologies, focussed on the customer value, developer experience, and the best practices and vision to ensure we stay ahead of hyper growth while maintaining security and reliability. 

The candidate must have: 
10+ years of professional software industry experience including 5+years of technical engineering management experience for a complex area with multiple teams. 
Deep knowledge and experience in AWS or other leading cloud provider
Experience of taking a company through an infrastructure scaling journey - e.g. a 10x growth over 2-5 years. 
Experience of taking a team through a scaling journey. Defining a target organisation structure, hiring to that, and putting the right people in place at the right time.
Experience of creating and adapting the right processes for their team as it scales over multiple years. 

The candidate would preferably have: 
Experience managing multiple tech teams, with distinct but related missions in the cloud infrastructure space
Deep knowledge in multiple facets of cloud computing infrastructure - storage, compute, serverless, IaaS, PaaS. 
A passion for driving ops improvements (SLA, on-call structure, incident management, observability, etc.) 
A product oriented mindset for platform ownership.

The candidate may have: 
Experience previously worked for a cloud provider (AWS, Azure, Google, Rackspace) and wants to leverage that experience externally (as a customer / consumer of cloud tech)

Great skills that we are not looking for:
Networking expertise, or associated services (CloudFront)
On-prem infrastructure management or on-prem to cloud migration projects
Financial acumen on cloud computing costs
Purely operational / support experience. We own our infrastructure, we don't just operate it.
