Sales / Solutions Engineer

As one of the first Sales Engineers at Personio, you will be part of the GTM/Sales organization, reporting to the Head of Value Engineering (and up to CRO). You will work primarily with the sales teams based in Spain, to begin with, scaling to international teams as it grows. Your main responsibilities will be to become the point of contact for all customer-facing technical topics related to the execution of a sales opportunity. In addition, you will be the interface between sales with Product & Eng, Customer Success, and data security  on technical topics related to pre-sales such as integrations, security, automation

  • As one of the first people on this team, be able to understand the current landscape with internal processes, escalations and requests for help, and from there create structured processes to support these. Understand what needs to be scaled and what needs to be customized
  • Understand the key issues customers are facing from a, IT and data privacy perspective. Become the go-to person to answer these questions for customers from a technical standpoint in both a specific way for Personio, and customized to customer needs/requirements as appropriate.
  • You will be responsible for being the knowledge expert in these areas in customer interactions, while also considering scaled solutions that can enable the team to do this in an ongoing capacity for more transactional deals. This includes ensuring customers have a clear understanding of what we can deliver from a security perspective at present and in our roadmap.
  • Understand sales/customer engagement in the spanish market, and ideally has experience of  doing this across Europe previously.
    Work with sales productivity to enhance the knowledge within teams, where issues are coming up on a frequent basis and can be included in the sales toolkit.
  • Work closely with customer success to ensure a smooth handover of accounts
What you need to succeed
  • Strong technical background, from previous roles in solutions engineering, product, or engineering or academic qualifications and knowledge.
  • Proven sales experience working with account teams to plan and execute opportunity-based strategies with the goal of generating revenue
  • You are revenue focused, with the ability to scale processes towards this goal
  • Strong security/compliance background from previous roles (e.g. ISO27k)
  • Customer-centric and commercially driven so this person will understand the dynamics of a sales organization.
  • Striving for operational excellence in own work and passing this attitude on to the team, very high standard towards own and team’s diligence.
  • Strategic mindset to synthesize customer asks into product feedback while willing to be operational as well in day to day interactions with customers, sales and partner teams.
  • Positive, can-do and hands-on mindset, able to make pragmatic decisions.
  • Data-drivenness, analytical thinking and ability to scale to bespoke needs for customers while maintaining a scaled focus to the business.
