Director of Technology Platform (m/f/d)

The Role
At Personio we are on the amazing journey of becoming the leading HR Platform in Europe!

In order to add further chapters to our success story, we are now introducing a new Director role.

As Director of Technology Platform, you will be responsible for Personio’s core technology stack and our mission critical non product centric engineering teams (Infrastructure Engineering, Developer Experience, QA, Security Engineering). You will significantly contribute to Personio’s overall engineering strategy and our goal towards establishing Personio as a top technology company.

Here’s how you will contribute:

  • Further develop the technology platform organization (currently around 20 staff), including org building, recruiting & definition of additional (on-site and distributed) teams, capacity planning and budgeting.
  • Define "Technology Platform" to enable current and future products at >10x scale.
  • Develop your direct reports (5+ Engineering Managers)  through coaching, mentoring and performance management as servant leader
  • Contribute to our overall engineering strategy and towards establishing Personio as a top technology company (e.g. internal & external presentations, blogging & tech branding).
  • Collaborate and align with VP Engineering & CTO on initiatives and priorities.
  • Promote the “You build it you run it” principle across the engineering organization.
  • Establish a set of expectations and ownership responsibilities between the Product teams and Technology Platform.
What you need to succeed
  • Experience in fast-growing, ambitious international tech companies with highly scalable technology stacks & cloud-native systems.
  • Deep technical understanding of the intersection of software development and operations (DevOps), monitoring and management tools & metrics, and deployment processes and tools.
  • A proven track record of developing a highly available, secure, performant and dynamic infrastructure with an ‘‘automate everything’ mindset.
  • Proven experience with cloud services, security, platforms and management tools.
  • Strong organisational skills and an entrepreneurial drive with a history of hiring, mentoring and developing high-performing teams. 
  • A demonstrated ability in strategic planning (e.g. OKR planning), risk management, change management, and project management.
  • A solid background in vendor management & cost negotiations and
  • excellent cross-functional collaborative and communication skills working with multiple departments.
